Harbhajan Singh Tests Positive For COVID-19, Goes Under Home Quarantine

Former Indian spin bowler Harbhajan Singh on Friday revealed that he tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

The 41-year-old took to his official Twitter handle to inform his followers about him being infected with the dreadful virus.

I have tested positive for COVID with mild symptoms: Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan said that the symptoms were mild and he has isolated himself but asked his close contacts to get tested immediately.

“I’ve tested positive for COVID with mild symptoms. I have quarantined myself at home and taking all the necessary precautions,” Harbhajan wrote on his Twitter handle.

“I would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest. Please be safe and take care,” he further mentioned.

Harbhajan Singh retired from all forms of cricket in December 2021

Last month Harbhajan officially declared his retirement from all forms of cricket after playing 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20I matches for India between 1998-2016.

All good things come to an end and today as I bid adieu to the game that has given me everything in life, I would like to thank everyone who made this 23-year-long journey beautiful and memorable. My heartfelt thank you. Grateful,” Harbhajan wrote on his Twitter on December 24, 2021.

According to some reports, Harbhajan is mulling to shift his base towards coaching and was in discussion with one IPL franchise to take up the role of a mentor of the team or could also be roped in the advisory section.

Harbhajan was part of five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians for 10 IPL editions before he moved to their rivals Chennai Super Kings in 2018. After three seasons at CSK, Harbhajan was bought by KKR in IPL 2021 auction.

Harbhajan, who played three games for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2021, is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the tournament’s history with 150 wickets from 163 games.

Harbhajan’s best bowling figures in IPL came against MS Dhoni’s CSK in 2011 at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai as his side won by eight runs.

The Punjab-born player is also seen as an expert on various sports media firms and also has his own YouTube channel (more than 2 lakh subscribers) where he shares his views about the game and the players.
