India’s limited-overs series against Sri Lanka which consists of three ODIs and as many T20Is will start from July 18, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has confirmed to news agency ANI.

Initially, the ODI series which will kickstart Team India’s white-ball assignment in the island nation was slated to start from July 13.

But following the Covid outbreak in the Sri Lankan camp, reports emerged on Friday night that the ODI and T20I series could well be rescheduled.

On Friday, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board proposed a new schedule to their counterparts in the BCCI, that had the ODIs rescheduled to July 17, 19, and 21 followed by the three-match T20I series from July 24.

Both SLC and BCCI are yet to make a format announcement regarding the same.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan board (SLC) has put together two different squads in case of an emergency. While the main squad is isolated in Colombo after batting coach Grant Flower and data analyst G. Niroshan tested positive for the Delta variant of the Wuhan virus, the second-string squad is in Dambulla.

Sri Lankan players have been forced to isolate for two more days after Flower and Niroshan tested positive for the virus and had the series started on July 13, it would have left them with no chance of having an outdoor session.
