India’s premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be eyeing another impressive feat to go past Harbhajan Singh in the upcoming 4 match Test series against England at home. R Ashwin who is the fourth-highest wicket-taker for India in tests is coming off a good series against Australia, the place where he has always struggled. He picked up 12 wickets in 3 matches and was crucial in India’s historic series win in Australia.

Ashwin has been devastating for the batsman in the pitches of India and his numbers suggest it too. He remains a great challenge for the touring batsman in Indian conditions and in the recent tour, he had got the big fish, Steve Smith, a lot of times which is not an easy task by any means in Australia. His next target would be England’s captain Joe Root who is the best player of spin in England’s batting order.

Ashwin To Become Second Highest Wicket Taker At Home

Ashwin needs 12 more wickets to go past the tally of 265 Test wickets at home by Harbhajan Singh. Anil Kumble leads the chart with 350 Test wickets at home and it is expected that Ashwin will go past Harbhajan to become the second-highest wicket-taker at home during the 4 match Test series. Ashwin has an impressive record of 21 five-wicket hauls and six ten-wicket match hauls in India.

In the process, Ashwin needs only 8 more wickets to complete 50 Test wickets against England at home. It will be a great achievement for tall off-spinner from Tamil Nadu and also he will be only the fourth Indian after BS Chandrasekhar (64), Kumble (56), and Bishan Singh Bedi (50) to achieve the record.

Ashwin is a very smart bowler and has been the greatest match-winner for India at-home Tests. He can bowl with the new ball and he changes his pace according to the needs of the pitch.

During the 2018 tour, Ashwin had an improved effort of 11 wickets from 4 matches.
