Mohammad Hafeez Loves His First Assignment After International Retirement

Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez is enjoying his retirement from international cricket and spending some quality time with his children.

On January 3, Hafeez announced his retirement from international cricket. He played 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 119 T20 International matches for Pakistan in 18 years of international cricket.

On Wednesday, the Lahore Qalandars player took to his official Twitter handle to express his joy of dropping his children at their school.

Mohammad Hafeez guides Lahore Qalandars to PSL final 2022

With his sheer all-round brilliance, Hafeez helped Lahore Qalandars to lift their maiden PSL title as they defeated Mohammad Rizwan-led Multan Sultans by 42 runs in the PSL 2022 final.

Lahore were reduced to 25 for three in 4.2 overs before veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez jumped in the foray with his fiery 46-ball 69 that included nine boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 150. Hafeez was involved in a partnership of 58 runs with England youngster Harry Brook, who remained unbeaten on 41 off 22 balls.

Hafeez carried his great run in the game as he crashed the gates of Multan Sultans skipper Rizwan before he could do any damage. After Rizwan’s departure, the defending champions stuttered to 63/5 inside 11 overs.

Mohammad Hafeez scored 12,780 runs international runs

Hafeez made his debut against Zimbabwe at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in an ODI match in 2003. Hafeez was part of Pakistan’s tremendous T20 World Cup campaign in UAE, where they lost to Australia in the semi-final. The 41-year-old scored 85 runs from five innings and returned with one wicket with the ball.

In December 2018, Hafeez announced his retirement from Test cricket after the Test series against New Zealand in UAE. Hafeez hasn’t represented Pakistan in One Day Internationals after the 2019 World Cup, his last match in the format came against Bangladesh.

Hafeez is the only Pakistan player to represent the team in all the ICC T20 World Cup tournaments. He bagged 32 players of the match awards in his illustrious international career, only behind Inzamam-ul-Haq (33), Wasim Akram (39), and Shahid Afridi (43) from Pakistan.
