Bangladesh pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been named in the Test squad for the forthcoming tour of the West Indies.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday (May 22) announced squads for all three formats as the national team is scheduled to play West Indies in two Tests, three ODIs, and as many T20I matches in the June-July period.

Mustsfizur, who last played a Test for Bangladesh in February 2021, is likely to play the red-ball game after some BCB members rebuked him for ignoring the traditional format.

Mustafizur was reluctant to play Test matches as he wanted to select formats wisely to prolong his international career.

He (Mustafizur Rahman) informed us that he is ready to play Test cricket. Naturally, his inclusion will strengthen our Test squad considering he is an experienced campaigner,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.

All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who missed the ongoing Sri Lanka Test series due to a finger injury, was also included in the Test squad. Veteran player Mushfiqur Rahim will completely miss the West Indies tour as he plans to make the Hajj pilgrimage.
