Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir says he didn’t found it difficult bowling to the two Indian greats: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Mohammad Amir, who last year announced a sudden retirement from international cricket, aged 28, has had a few high-octane clashes with the Indian batters even when India and Pakistan faced each other seldomly.

The left-arm seamer has dismissed Sharma thrice in international cricket, and Kohli twice. One of those dismissals came in the 2017 Champions Trophy final when he got the better of both the batsman – and Shikhar Dhawan as well – pinning India on the mat in his opening spell of 6-2-16-3.

“I enjoy bowling in pressure situations. Similarly, I live matching up to the best batsmen in the world. Kohli’s performances speak for themselves, we don’t need to say anything. He’s proven himself in every format. He’s shown why he’s called King Kohli. He too wins pressure situations. I like bowling to him. Bowlers will keep getting batsmen out and it gives me immense satisfaction knowing that people like the idea of Kohli and I squaring off,” Mohammad Amir said in an interview with Cricwick.

I may say that I find bowling to Virat slightly tougher than Rohit: Mohammad Amir

As the world continues the debate about who is the better batsman among Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Amir says bowling to the Indian captain was “slightly tougher” than bowling to the vice-captain. He reasons that Rohit is a little vulnerable at the start of his innings to both the ball moving in as well as going away from a left-arm bowler’s angle.

“I haven’t found it tough bowling to either. In fact, I find it easy to bowl to him (Rohit). I feel that I can get him out both ways. He struggles against the in-swinger from a left-armer and as well as against the ball that goes away early on. I may say that I find bowling to Virat slightly tougher because he revels in pressure situations, but otherwise, I’ve never found it difficult bowling to either of the two,” Mohammad Amir, who retired with over 250 international scalps to his name, further asserted.
