Former Pakistan skipper and star batter Babar Azam engaged in a lighthearted exchange with a fan during the ongoing three-match Test series against Australia. Babar Azam humbly declined to give his hat to a female fan, and the moment brought smiles to everyone present.

Australia secured a comprehensive victory over Pakistan, defeating them by 360 runs in the first Test in Perth on Sunday, December 17. The Shan Masood-led team conceded a 0-1 lead to Pat Cummins’ side. The visiting team has yet to secure a Test match victory at this venue.

I Only Have One As Well – Babar Azam

In a video shared by a user on social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), Babar Azam can be seen giving autographs to fans at the stadium. One fan requested Babar for his hat, to which he humbly replied, “I only have one as well,” resulting in smiles all around.

“Bhai Mujhy apki Hat chaiye (Brother, I want your cap)” a fan said.

“Mery pas bhi ek hi hai (I have only one as well)” Babar replied.

Babar Azam Fails To Deliver In Both Innings Of The First Test Match

Babar Azam faced disappointment in the series opener against Australia at Optus Stadium. The right-handed batter scored 21 (54) in Pakistan’s first innings. The visiting team bundled out for 271 in their first innings, resulting in a substantial lead of 216 runs for the hosts.

The Pat Cummins-led team set a formidable target of 450 for Pakistan after declaring their second innings at a total of 233/5 on Day 4. With the challenging task ahead, Pakistan needed a substantial contribution from Babar Azam during the run chase in the last innings.

Pakistan had a challenging start to their chase, finding themselves at 17/2 within six overs. Babar Azam entered the innings with the responsibility on his shoulders but could only contribute 14 runs before falling victim to Pat Cummins’ well-executed plan in the 15th over.

Subsequently, the Pakistan team lost their way and were bowled out for 89, resulting in a 360-run defeat in the first Test. Babar will be hoping to contribute significantly in the upcoming Test match to aid the team in securing their first victory in Australia since 1995.

Babar Azam’s Batting Position Likely To Be Changed In T20Is

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named a 17-member squad, led by left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi, for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The squad includes promising youngsters Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub, Haseebullah Khan, and Sahibzada Farhan.

The team management and selectors have opted to provide opportunities for Saim Ayub as an opener, forming a partnership with either Babar Azam or wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. This strategic decision aims to maximize the team’s batting strength and flexibility.

The longstanding opening partnership of Azam and Rizwan has been successful in securing victories for Pakistan in numerous matches. However, there have been discussions regarding whether to maintain the existing order or introduce opportunities for youngsters.

Pakistan T20I Squad: Shaheen Afridi (c), Aamir Jamal, Abbas Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan (wk), Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Haseebullah (wk), Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mojammad Wasim Jnr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Usama Mir, Zaman Khan.
