Fans on Twitter were elated in joy after Pakistan Cricket Team captain Babar Azam slammed a magnificent century in the ongoing first game of the Asia Cup 2023 against Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. 

Babar Azam yet again has proved to be the crisis man for Pakistan as he played a staggering innings and bailed his team out of trouble. Opting to bat first, the hosts lost two wickets early and came under immense pressure. It was when the skipper stepped up for his team and made sure that he started the Asia Cup on a positive note.

Babar Azam first stitched an 86-run partnership with Mohammad Rizwan (44) and once the keeper-batter was back in the hut he took the onus to himself. The right-hander played some crips shots and put the opposition under pressure with his wonderful batting display. 

Babar Azam slammed his 8th fifty-plus score this year in 12 innings that he has played. He converted his half-century into a brilliant hundred and put his team in the driving seat. The Pakistan skipper hit his 19th ODI ton in 109 balls. 

Babar Azam batted with a strike rate of around 90 and smashed 10 fours. He was batting at the time of writing this piece. With his ton, the Pakistan skipper became the fastest batter to complete 19 tons in the ODI format. He surpassed Hashim Amla’s record. The right-hander achieved the feat in 102 innings. Pakistan would be hoping for him to carry on and take the team’s total to over 300 runs.

This means he has 47 fifty plus scores in just 102 inns. Roughly translating to a fifty plus score in every 2.17 inns. Crazy consistency
