India captain Rohit Sharma expressed his desire to play the Test series against Pakistan. He believes that two arch-rivals playing against each other in the longest format of the game will be a great contest.

India vs Pakistan is surely one of the biggest rivalries in the cricketing history. It's fair to say when the two teams are up against each other, it's one of the most exciting sporting clash to watch. The fact that two teams are up against each other only in multination tournaments, makes it even more enthralling.

Due to the political tensions between the two nations, India and Pakistan don't lock horns with each other in the bilateral series. The last time the two clashed with each other in a bilateral series was during 2012-13. That was the white-ball series between the teams with the last red-ball game coming in 2007.

Of late there have been many speculations about India and Pakistan playing in the bilateral series again. Cricket Australia also expressed their desire to host the game between the two arch-rivals but so far there hasn't been an official confirmation either from BCCI or PCB.

During the Club Prairie Fire Podcast, former England captain Michael Vaughan asked Rohit Sharma about playing regularly with Pakistan. He stated: “Don’t you think India playing Pakistan regularly will be fantastic for Test cricket?”

Replying to that Rohit Sharma said that he's in for the series against Pakistan. He believes that if the two teams can play Test series against each other in overseas conditions then it will be a great idea. He stated:

“I totally believe that! They are a good team. They have got a superb bowling line-up. I think it would be a good contest, especially if you play in the overseas condition. That would be awesome.

"Last test match played between India and Pakistan was way back I think in 2006 or 2008 (2007), where Wasim Jaffar got a double hundred in Kolkata."

Would love to - Rohit Sharma on playing regularly with Pakistan

Michael Vaughan further asked Rohit Sharma:Would he like to see a regular series with Pakistan?”

Replying to this, Rohit Sharma said that he would love to play against Pakistan regularly. He stated that he is interested in playing pure cricket and it will be a great battle between the teams. He added:

"I would love to. At the end of the day, we want to be in the contest. I think it will be a great contest between the two sides. We anyway play them in the ICC tournaments. So, it doesn’t even matter.

"I am only interested in pure cricket. I am not looking at anything else. It’s just pure cricket. A battle between bat and ball. It will be a great contest so why not.”

India and Pakistan will be up against each other in the T20 World Cup 2024. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in New York on June 9.
