PBKS vs MI: Watch - Jasprit Bumrah castles Rilee Rossouw with an absolute screamer

Rilee Rossouw finally got the chance to play his first game in the ongoing IPL 2024 when Punjab Kings included him in their playing eleven for the ongoing game against Mumbai Indians at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh.

The South Africa star replaced Jonny Bairstow in the playing eleven. One of the most experienced T20 batsmen in the PBKS squad, Rilee Rossouw would have loved to score big in his first game of IPL 2024. However, the southpaw lasted just three deliveries as a screamer from Jasprit Bumrah ended his stay.

In the second over of the PBKS' innings, Bumrah was bowling to Rilee Rossouw. The first two deliveries were faced by Sam Curran before Rilee Rossouw came on the strike for the third delivery. And the very first delivery he faced from the MI pace spearhead was an unplayable one.

It was a full-length delivery that swung back in at the last moment, leaving the left-handed batsman completely helpless. He wanted to play a drive but was completely outfoxed by the delivery. The ball went on to crash into the stumps and uprooted two stumps. He departed after scoring one off 3 deliveries.

Talking about the game, PBKS were reeling at 49 for 5 in the seventh over at the time of writing this report. The hosts are chasing 193 runs for a much-needed win. At one stage, PBKS were reeling at 14 for 4 before a 35-run stand between Shashank Singh and Harpreet Bhatia stopped the rot.

However, before the duo could take PBKS to a good position, Shreyas Gopal broke the stand by dismissing Bhatia for 13. Earlier in the game, MI finished their innings on 192 for 7.

Suryakumar Yadav starred with the bat for the five-time champions by scoring 78 runs off 53 balls. Apart from him, Rohit Sharma (36) and Tilak Varma (34*) also played crucial knocks. For PBKS, Harshal Patel picked up three wickets while Sam Curran claimed two wickets.
