Afghanistan’s premier spinner Rashid Khan has admitted that he wants to work on his batting and he is looking forward to being a proper all-rounder in the future. Rashid Khan’s knock of 48 in 40 deliveries in the final ODI against Ireland set the tone for Afghanistan to post a good total of 266 and he also took 4/29 while bowling to win the series 3-0.

Rashid who started his career as a batsman later worked on his bowling to become one of the top spinners in the white-ball format now. His batting gives him an added advantage in the middle order and he can be a handy batsman at eight in both the T20 and ODI format. Rashid Khan Doesn’t Change His Bowling Approach For Different Formats

Rashid Khan says that he doesn’t have to change his bowling mindset for different stages of the innings and different formats. He has told that he is clear with his lines and lengths and what plans work for him and also added that he likes to keep it very simple. He made a good point that as long as he can bowl his best delivery, the format doesn’t matter and he is used to bowling in the last 10 overs in ODI format while in T20 format he will be bowling short spells.

”When the team needs me I have to deliver. At the end when we need 40 or 50 runs then you have to stand up and deliver for the team. Yes I am considering myself as a proper all-rounder and whenever I get an opportunity, doesn’t matter if I come at number eight or number nine, I just need to have that mentality that I have got skills and talents and I have to just go and express that,” Rashid Khan said.

”I don’t think I have to change my mindset because mostly I am bowling at the end of the innings when teams and the players are going after the bowlers and they want to score runs,” he added.

Advantages Of Playing Several Leagues

Rashid Khan also talked about playing in several leagues around the world which helps him to assess the conditions before and get used to bowling in the different wickets and different conditions for his country. Rashid was part of CPL, Big Bash and also he was part of IPL in UAE to have some more exposure about the wickets.

“It helps you as a player because you know I played in CPL and in Big Bash; different wickets and different conditions and then I played here in the UAE and I already played in the IPL… you know a bit of the condition but at the same time you got to have that hard, so that whenever the team needs to play ODIs and Tests and T20, I am around” Rashid Khan said.
