Rishabh Pant’s Exploits In Gabba Reason Behind Cricket Australia’s Blockbuster Deal With Disney Star In India- Reports

Recently, on Sunday, July 24, 2022, Cricket Australia announced that they signed a lucrative seven-year deal with Disney Star to broadcast cricket in India and other parts of Asia. Now it has come to light and it has been reported that Indian keeper-batter Rishabh Pant is the reason behind the deal.

Cricket Australia secured an AUD360 million rights deal with Walt Disney Company-owned Disney Star in which the broadcasting giants will telecast the men’s and women’s international games, the Big Bash League (BBL), and the Women’s BBL in India for a period of seven years beginning in 2023–2024.

CA believes the size of the channel will give it “enormous exposure” for both the Australian cricket and CA’s business partners in Asia, the cricket world’s largest market.

Reports Suggest Rishabh Pant’s Gabba Test Innings Big Reason Behind Cricket Australia Signing This Deal

Now IANS reports have stated that Indian batter Rishabh Pant’s amazing exploits in the fourth Test of the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy which was played at Gabba in Brisbane was one of the prime reasons for Cricket Australia (CA) securing an AUD360 million rights deal with Disney Star.

The report said that, “Pant’s phenomenal innings to deliver India the Gabba Test and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in January 2021 remained fresh in plenty of executive memories”.

The multi-million dollar seven-year deal has surprised the cricket has surprised the trade pundits who feel this is because there is still a tremendous following for Test cricket. The report added that CA’s agreement with Disney Star is “larger than the fee Nine was paying, as recently as a decade ago, for all cricket in Australia — AUD275 million between 2006 and 2013”.

This also comes after Disney Star also recently won the TV broadcast rights for the T20 Indian Premier League from 2023-27.
