Indian opener Rohit Sharma just loves playing the pull and hook shot, doesn’t he?

He may have gotten out on a number of occasions in the recent past while attempting the shot- most recently in the Nottingham Test- but it’s truly evident that irrespective of the outcome, he’ll continue to do.

We saw yet another evidence of the same in the ongoing afternoon session of the Lord’s Test where Rohit Sharma dished out the hook shot against the searing pace of Mark Wood.

It all happened during the 26th over of the Indian innings when Mark Wood dug one short and Sharma rocked back to hook it over deep fine-leg.

He didn’t look in full control but the pace of Wood ensured that the ball sailed over deep fine-leg comfortably.

That said, the real highlight of Rohit Sharma’s knock thus far has been the number of balls that he has left outside the off-stump.

Sharma, along with Rahul, have once again been brilliant as an opening pair as the duo negated the threat of the English seamers in difficult conditions.

This is the fifth time in this calendar year that an Indian opening pair has batted for more than 20 overs in SENA countries and the duo have also become the first opening pair from India to stitch a 100+ stand in SENA since Centurion 2010.

They have also become only the third Indian opening pair to stitch a 100+ stand at Lord’s in Test cricket.

Rohit has notched up his second 50 as an opener in SENA countries and he will be looking to cash in and convert it into a daddy hundred.
