India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, who leads Rajasthan Royals (RR), failed miserably with the bat in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) against Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday, May 2, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Sanju Samson recently hogged the headlines for his much-deserved selection in the 15-man India squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. He has been in terrific form in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League and has scored runs consistently for his team.

Sanju Samson has scored 385 runs in 10 IPL 2024 matches at an amazing average of 64.17 and a brilliant strike rate of 159.09 with his best score being 82*. Although he has got great numbers, he failed to perform in the high-voltage clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

During the run-chase, Sanju Samson came out to bat after the dismissal of Jos Buttler for a golden duck on the second ball of the first over. Expectations were sky-high from Sanju Samson to take his team to a good start after an early breakthrough, but he failed to do it and was dismissed on the 5th ball of the same over.

The veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an absolute jaffa outside off-stump that swung in and destroyed the stumps, leaving Sanju Samson stunned.

Fans on X brutally trolled Samson for bagging a failure after the World Cup selection. According to some fans, Sanju Samson became the latest victim of the 'T20 World Cup selection curse' that has been haunting Indian players in the IPL. Notably, since India's T20 World Cup squad announcement, both the batters and bowlers who have been selected, have delivered a poor performance..

Indian batters after T20 World Cup 2024 squad announcement:

Suryakumar Yadav - 10(6).

Sanju Samson - 0(3).
