"You Want His Workload Management To Be Done Properly" - Aakash Chopra Lauds Jasprit Bumrah's Performances In India-England Series

Jasprit Bumrah received praise from Aakash Chopra for his outstanding ball-handling skills during the just-finished multi-format series against England. The ex-cricketer-turned-commentator also hopes that the workload of the strike bowler is adequately controlled. 

When Team India had the ball against England in all three forms, Bumrah stood out. The speedster missed the final ODI due to back spasms, raising questions over his health at the end of the series. 

Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload Has To Be Managed: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra named Jasprit Bumrah as Team India’s third-best performer against England in a video posted to his YouTube account, only after Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant. 

He did, however, show a little amount of worry about how he managed his workload, saying: “Bumrah has been brilliant. He is an asset in my opinion. You want his workload management to be done properly because if you don’t manage him properly, you might end up losing instead of gaining.” 

Aakash Chopra lauded Bumrah for his dual performance in the Edgbaston Test against England as captain and bowler.

The former India opener noted: “The guy has done amazingly well whenever he has played. He was once again exceptional in the Test match, right from the start, he was also the captain, and as a bowler in the first innings.” 

Over the course of England’s two innings in the Test match, Bumrah claimed five wickets. Another standout moment of the contest was the 29 runs he scored off a Stuart Broad over that went for a total of 35 runs. 

Jasprit Bumrah Is Different: Aakash Chopra

Chopra was very impressed with Bumrah’s bowling performance against England in the first ODI.

He elaborated: “But after that in ODI cricket, he picked up eight wickets in two innings. In the first match when India dismissed England for 110 runs, it was because of Bumrah, he picked up six wickets (6/19), he was absolutely stellar.” 

In addition, the renowned pundit praised Bumrah, saying: “He did well and he always does that. He once again made us realize his stature, that he is a different guy.

“In my opinion, he is the No. 1 all-format bowler. He played just one match in the T20s, in which he took two wickets at an economy of 3.3. Bumrah is good, that’s it, period. He is an extremely strong player.” 

In his final statement, Aakash Chopra said that, like Hardik and Pant, it would be nearly hard for Team India to find another player who could compare to Jasprit Bumrah.
