According to sources, the movie is set to be directed by Kabir Khan and the announcement of the same is likely to be made public on September 27. Meanwhile, Arjun Kapoor of  Two States fame is reportedly set to play the lead role in the movie. Hrithik Roshan and Ranveer Singh were also considered for the role but the makers eventually zeroed in on Arjun Kapoor.

“A mammoth event is being planned to announce the film on September 27. The makers hope that the Indian players who brought the cup home will grace the occasion,” a source said.

One of the greatest cricketer of all time, Kapil Dev had led India India to its inaugural World Cup title in 1983. The first Indian bowler to cross the 400-wicket mark in Tests, Kapil Dev represented India in 131 Tests and 225 ODIs, scoring close to 9,000 runs and taking more than 600 wickets.
