India snuck home with three wickets in hand against Bangladesh to claim the Asia Cup title for the second time in succession, but they were made to work far harder than many expected.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh had made 222 on the back of a brilliant maiden hundred from Liton Das, but three wickets from Kuldeep Yadav, two from Kedar Jadhav, and three run outs had perhaps made them slight favourites, especially considering their batting firepower.

However, India had to work hard as the opponents struck on a consistent basis to stretch the game. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma started in a grand fashion but the wicket of Dhawan halted the run flow. But useful contributions down the order ensured that they reach the target in the last over of the game.

SHIKHAR DHAWAN (5/10)

Shikhar Dhawan will curse himself for not converting a good start and throwing his wicket away. The southpaw scored 15 runs off just 14 balls including four boundaries before getting out.

ROHIT SHARMA (C) (8/10)

Rohit Sharma has led the side from the front scoring runs upfront on every match. He once again played a good hand of 48 runs including three boundaries and three sixes to set the tone for India.

A lot of credit of this Asia Cup win will go to Rohit Sharma as he has looked settle as per his captaincy skills are concerned.

AMBATI RAYUDU (2/10)

Ambati Rayudu has been a consistent performer in this six-nation Asia Cup. However, he failed to score runs in the pinnacle clash against Bangladesh

As a result, he can be a probable candidate for the worrisome second drop batsmen.

DINESH KARTHIK (7/10)

Dinesh Karthik has played some useful hand in this Asia Cup but he lacked the maturity to carry on till the end. He chipped in with 37 runs from 61 balls including one four and one six.

MS DHONI (WK) (6.5/10)

MS Dhoni’s form with the bat has taken a downward slope since the tour fo England.  Although he scored 37 runs it was not his usual knock as he failed to score at a good pace.

The former India captain needs to get his touch back before the multi-nation event next year.

KEDAR JADHAV (9/10)

Kedar Jadhav’s love and hate relationship with injury continue as he once against suffered a hamstring injury. However, he won hearts as he came back to guide India to their seventh Asia Cup title.

Jadhav, who was coming from an injury scored an unbeaten 23 runs in two halves, but unfortunately will be away for a few weeks.

RAVINDRA JADEJA (7/10)

Ravindra Jadeja has made an impressive comeback to the ODI set up. He has made full use of it and instrumental behind India’ s Asia Cup win over Bangladesh. Jadeja played a crucial hand of 23 runs to take his team inch closer to the target.

However, he would curse himself for not finishing the game on his own hands.

BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR (7/10)

Bhuvneshwar Kumar stood up to the occasion when his team needed the most. Although he went wicketless with the ball, he made it up with the bat playing a crucial knock of 21 runs to bring down the required rate.

KULDEEP YADAV (8/10)

Kuldeep Yadav contributed with both bat and ball chipping with some useful runs in the last over to win the match for his side. However, previously, he picked three wickets to restrict Bangladesh to a mere total in the Asia Cup finale

JASPRIT BUMRAH (6/10)

Jasprit Bumrah gave away some early on with the new ball but was exceptionally well in the death overs. Bumrah has been exceptional throughout the Asia Cup and returned with one for 39 in 8.3 overs against Bangladesh.

YUZVENDRA CHAHAL (5/10)

Yuzvendra Chahal kept things tight when liton Das was dominating the proceedings. Although he bagged only one wicket but was economical to put pressure on the batsmen.
