Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke believes Rohit Sharma is the best opening batsman in the world. Rohit Sharma has been instrumental in the success of the team over the last five years. The flamboyant batsman has been consistent in the white ball format and has done a great job while opening the innings for his team.

Rohit Sharma has provided a good platform to the Indian team on multiple occasions. In fact, the stylish right-hander had put on a show in the first One-Dayer of the ongoing three-match series against Australia. India’s opener had scored a brilliant knock of 133 runs off just 129 balls to keep India in the contest.

However, Rohit valiant effort with the bat went in vain in the first match as the tourists lost by 34 runs. The right-hander took a cautious approach when India was tumbling at 4-3 and had their backs against the wall.

Rohit added an imperative alliance of 137 runs with MS Dhoni to keep the visitors floating in the match. The right-hander brought out his magnum opus and displayed all the shots in his arsenal.

“Rohit Sharma is currently the best opening batsman in the World,” Michael Clarke said while talking on air.

Rohit has played with great success in the recent past and he is a pivotal cog in the Indian team wheel. On the other hand, Michael Clarke had recently selected Rohit Sharma in India’s Best Test XI, which was a surprise to many.

Sharma is in fine form in the recent past and has scored 15 hundred after the 2015 World Cup. He has scored his runs at an average of 67 after the mega event and would like to continue in the similar fashion in the upcoming World Cup.
