Former India player, Ashish Nehra, has been paid one-time benefit by BCCI. The left-arm arm pacer retired from international cricket last year after playing his last game on November 1.

BCCI has paid Nehra an amount of Rs 60,00,000, as the one-time benefit. He played a total of 17 Tests, 120 ODIs and 27 T20Is. He made his Test debut in 1999 while his ODI debut came in 2001.

A string of injuries, however, curtailed Nehra’s appearances and he decided not to play Test cricket.

Post the final of the World Cup, he suddenly disappeared from the scene, and his name did not come into the reckoning. It was only after he did well in IPL 2015 that he made his comeback in the national side for the T20I series against Australia in 2016.

He went to play Asia Cup, T20 World Cup 2016 as well. He looked to be all set to play for another couple of years, but once he was not given a place in the playing XI for the series against Australia (in 2017), he decided to call it quits.

Nehra played his last game at his home ground, Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on November 1.

The legendary player is all set to be associated with the game, as he has joined Royal Challengers Bangalore in the coaching role. He was appointed as the bowling coach of RCB last year, and he is all set to perform the coaching role in the upcoming IPL season.

There too, he will be joining Virat Kohli, captain of RCB. It was learnt that it was Kohli who wanted Nehra as the bowling coach of the side.

Along with Nehra, RCB also roped in Gary Kristen as their batting coach. Both Nehra and Kirsten will report to Daniel Vettori, the Head Coach of the side.

The upcoming season of IPL will start on April 7, with Mumbai Indians playing the opening game of the season.
