With Sanjay Bangar‘s stint with Team India coming to an end after the ongoing tour of West Indies, there will be some slight changes in India’s backroom staff. The Cricket Advisory Committee and the selection panel has decided against bringing wholesome changes to the coaching staff. While the CAC re-appointed Ravi Shastri as the bowling coach, the selection panel retained Bharat Arun and R Sridhar as bowling and fielding coach respectively.

Sanjay Bangar is the only man among the coaches who has not been retained. Former India batsman Vikram Rathour will replace Bangar. India will now have to appoint a new number two as Bangar is gone. And according to reports, Bharat Arun is likely to be promoted to Bangar’s position. As per Mumbai Mirror, Bharat Arun could be re-designated as assistant coach.

Bharat Arun has received praise from all around for the way India’s bowlers have performed in recent times. Last year, India’s bowlers did well in South Africa, England and Australia as well as in this year’s World Cup. Moreover, Arun is the most experienced man in the new coaching team after head coach Ravi Shastri.

The report further claimed that the modalities of contract and remuneration package of the support staff will be decided after BCCI CEO Rahul Johri returns. He is currently overseas.

Meanwhile, Bangar could ply his trade for Indian Premier League outfit Royals Challengers Bangalore. Speculations are rife that the Bangalore-based outfit will rope in Bangar.  The decision has not yet been finalised as Diageo management, that runs the IPL franchise, is still consulting its advisors.

Team India, meanwhile, are gearing up for the second and final Test against West Indies. Following the game, India will return home and host South Africa next month.
