The youngster quoted that scoring 500 runs might look possible. But, playing top-class Australian bowlers for over 1200 balls in a series seems like a tough target to achieve. Further, he believes that there is a lot to learn from the number 3 batsman of India in Test.

He showered words of praise by saying that we hardly come across a batsman, who can defend all the day nicely and walk back unbeaten in the current generation. He wants to take that quality from the modern day masterful batsman.

“There are very few batsmen who can bat through the day and look to play out the balls. He (Pujara) played over 1200 balls in one tour, which is really phenomenal. To score 500 runs in a tour looks possible. But to face so many deliveries is setting a benchmark for the youngsters,” Gill told reporters on the sidelines of a Ranji Trophy match.

“There is a lot to learn seeing the way Cheteshwar Pujara bats, his patience at the crease. Australia had the world’s top bowlers and to score against them on those tough pitches is phenomenal. I love watching him bat. Nowadays the batsmen look to score quick runs,” he added.

Coming to Gill, he is in ominous form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. He is scoring runs at regular intervals of time to stay in the top run-scorers of the season. With his regular knocks, he is also knocking the selection doors to receive a call-up.

Recently, Yuvraj Singh, the winner of the man of the series in two world cups quoted that Shubman Gill is on verge of receiving the ODI call-up for Indian National Cricket Team.
