Another day passed, and there was yet another surprising match delivered by CPL 2018. Chris Gayle-led St Kitts and Nevis Patriots thrashed Kieron Pollard-led St Lucia Stars in a dull, one-sided affair at St Lucia grounds.

Though huge tallies were being scored and chased, the latest match in CPL 2018 has registered one of its all-time lowest tallies. Surprisingly, St Lucia Stars were thumped at their home venue thus decreasing their possibility to make it to the next level in CPL 2018.

St Lucia Stars bundled out for 69 runs:

Initially, it was Chris Gayle, who won the toss and asked the home side to bat first. Justifying the toss decision, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ bowlers struck those beautiful lines and lengths to make life harder for St Lucia Stars’ batsmen.

The premium fast bowler or St Kitts, Sheldon Cottrell started the things in a flashy mode by sending Andre Fletcher cheaply. Then followed the wickets of in-form Rahkeem Cornwall and Lendl Simmons when Mahmudullah accounted them with the new ball.

The troubles for St Lucia extended when Nepal spinner Sandeep Lamichchanne sent David Warner and Qais Ahmed for poor scores. Once the batsman troop were back in the hut, it was a mere formality for St Kitts’ bowlers to give the tail-enders a jog back to the dugout.

Devon Thomas guides the chase:

Chasing a mere 70-run tally, Chris Gayle dropped himself to give Devon Thomas a chance to bat. He showed his calibre by smashing an unbeaten 38 off just 21 balls. Meanwhile, the poor run of form for Evin Lewis continued as well.

Brandon King scored 17 to his name before being trapped LBW to Kavem Hodge. Tom Cooper was unfortunate to be run out which delayed the things a bit for St Kitts.  However, Devon Thomas finished it in style to bag crucial two points for the visitors in the game in CPL 2018.

Brief scores:

St Lucia Stars – 69-all-out (Qais Ahmed – 24; Cottrell – 3/14;  Mahmuddullah – 2/20)

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots – 70/3 (Devon Thomas – 38*; Kavem Hodge 1/1)

Match Result – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots won by seven wickets against St Lucia Stars with 74 balls to spare.
