Day-Night Test Is The Way Forward, Says Newly-Elected BCCI President Sourav Ganguly

Team India’s stance on playing day-night Test might change with former India skipper Sourav Ganguly taking over as the BCCI President. Ganguly, who will take over the charge later this month after he won unopposed will have day-night Test on top of his agenda.

Head coach Ravi Shastri had agreed to play day-night Test against West Indies. However, later on, told the Committee of Administrators that the players weren’t prepared for the same. Shastri also said that they would want 12 to 18 months to prepare to play under the lights in Test matches.

Although Sourav Ganguly is not sure of how things will work but he is keen to take the initiative and convince the management to play pink-ball Tests. He also promised to talk with every concerned member and take further decisions.

“We will deal with it. It is too early for me to comment on how we will work on this, but let me take office and then we will discuss this with every member,” Ganguly said.

Furthermore, Sourav Ganguly stated that day-night Test is the way forward. The new BCCI President, who has been an advocate of pink-ball matches is confident that India under Virat Kohli will do well in day-night games as well. Currently, team India are the top-ranked Test side in the ICC Rankings.

Ganguly also wants more day-night Tests in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship. Adelaide is likely to host a match but he vouches to have more of such games.
