Delhi Include Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan Among Probables For Ranji Trophy

The first-class season in India is all about to begin. As the whole of India gear up for the Ranji Trophy, Delhi have named their 30-member probables for the premier tournament. And they have included Team India cricketers like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, and Rishabh Pant in the list of probables while there is no guarantee whether they will get time from their busy schedule to play.

The upcoming season of Ranji Trophy will start from December 9 with Delhi locking horns against Kerala in their opening encounter. With Ishant Sharma not featuring in the limited-overs series against West Indies, there is a chance that he can turn up for Delhi in the opening tie while other international stars will be busy with India commitments. Shikhar Dhawan might also play for Delhi in Ranji Trophy as some point as he fights his way back to the Test side.

Virat Kohli, Dhawan among probable for Ranji Trophy

Dhawan has earlier said that he will set his eyes on the Ranji Trophy in a bid to make a comeback on the Test side. The 33-year-old further added that whenever he will get time, he will turn up for Delhi to play domestic cricket. Shikhar Dhawan played his last Test when India played their last and final against England at the Oval in 2018.

“Absolutely looking to get back. I am always on for Test cricket and when I get the opportunity (in domestic cricket) I will be playing. I will play Ranji Trophy when I am free. I will not sit at home. When I am not playing all the three formats, I will definitely play domestic cricket,” Dhawan had told IANS.

Alongside Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant might also turn up for Delhi now that he is not a regular in the Test. Wriddhiman Saha has reclaimed his spot back after making a comeback from injury. Pant was recently released from the squad during the historic day-night Test against Bangladesh to play for Delhi in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
