Meanwhile, India had a poor outing in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup last year. They failed to qualify for the knockouts courtesy a poor net run-rate. The junior selection committee met in Kolkata to pick the 15-member squad. The selectors tried to keep the players in the mix, who failed to make it for India A’s tour to New Zealand.

The wicket-keeper batsman, Prab Simran Singh, who was India’s stand-in captain at the U-19 Asia Cup final also received a call. He impressed with his critical 50-run knock which helped India to win the trophy.

Meanwhile, the Emerging Teams Asia Cup tournament is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from December 2 to 17.
