A Delhi-based retro-bar has been giving some major headache to Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir for a long time. The Delhi based cricketer had appealed to the Delhi court to restrain the bar from using his name in it taglines in connection to its pubs. However, Gautam Gambhir was left disappointed when the court rejected the World Cup-winning cricketer’s plea.

Gambhir’s request against Delhi- based DAP and Co, which runs two pubs — Ghungroo and Hawalat — in Punjabi Bagh area of west Delhi, was denied by Justice SP Garg. Gautam Gambhir is also the name of the person who owns the pubs.

The pub had already stated the issue saying that the tagline had the name ‘Gautam Gambhir’ in it because of its owner’s name. According to Gautam Gambhir, the pub’s name misleads the people to think that they are owned by the cricketer and has caused “irreparable loss and undue hardship” to him.

Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders to the playoffs earlier this year in the iconic 10th edition of the Indian Premier League. He also had a stellar season with the bat in the process but was denied a spot by the selectors in the national team. The player had no option other than going back tot he gruelling domestic format to script his writing.

He is representing his state Delhi this year in the Ranji Trophy under the captaincy of youngster Rishabh Pant. Delhi is already into the semi-finals of the Trophy and will meet Bengal in the semis. Gautam Gambhir blistering knock of 95 runs scripted their birth in the last four.
