Although it wasn’t a great year for T20I with all focus on the ICC World Cup 2019 in England but the franchise-based cricket all over the globe was no short of a spectacle. From IPL to BBL to CPL, the players took all effort to entertain the fans over the year. As 2019 comes to an end, renowned cricket broadcaster Harsha Bhogle has picked his T20 XI of the year, and only three Indians have made the list.

Bhogle has named Australia’s David Warner and India’s KL Rahul as his opening duo followed by the talismanic Virat Kohli at No. 3. Warner, who returned to professional cricket after serving one-year ban was prolific with the bat and enjoyed a run-fest in India during the IPL. Rahul also enjoyed a fantastic run throughout the year scoring runs at a healthy strike-rate for India and his IPL side Kings XI Punjab. At one down, Kohli is an obvious choice which his consistency and conversion-rate during chases.

The middle-order in Harsha Bhogle’s XI consists of power-packed batters who can demolish any bowling unit across the globe. The names – AB de Villiers, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Russell are enough to send tremors down the spine of any bowlers. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi is the only the cricketer from the country to feature in the list. The veteran all-rounder has significant experiences playing all across the globe and has enjoyed an excellent 2019 with both bat and ball.

The four bowlers to make Harsha Bhogle’s best T20 XI of 2019 are – Chris Jordan, Deepak Chahar, Lasith Malinga, and Imran Tahir. While Jordan, Malinga and Tahir have consistently done well in the shortest format of the game, Chahar came up the ranks brilliantly to be one of the leading bowlers for India in the format. He enjoyed success under MS Dhoni in Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, and since then he has been at his best.
