England star Liam Livingstone suffered two painful blows to the groin on Tuesday while playing for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League. The Perth-based outfit were up against Melbourne Renegades when Liam Livingstone was made to suffer a couple of painful blows for his half-century.

The first incident occurred in the third over of Scorchers’ innings when Liam Livingstone was up against  Richard Gleeson. The pacer bowled a delivery that drifted down the leg-side and when Liam Livingstone tried to slog the ball over square leg, he could not connect his bat with the ball. And the result was absolutely painful as the ball went on to hit him where he would not have liked.

The blow was followed by an audible cry came from Livingstone but he appeared to have the last laugh when launching a delivery onto the roof just a few minutes later. But he faced that painful situation once again just two overs later. This time around, the blow was more severe as he was heard screaming ‘oh, no’ after the ball from Will Sutherland hit him between his thighs.

Australian legend Michael Hussey, who was commentating, joked “he might not get up from this” as physios rushed on to attend to the stricken star.  “Let’s hope he’s okay,” Hussey added while holding back the giggles. “It’s not that funny…”

Liam Livingstone, nonetheless, had the last laugh as he went on to smash a fine fifty to help his side win the game. The right-hander must have hoped to forget about his painful blows as soon as he walked off the field but it was not the case. While he was relaxing in the dugout after putting Scorchers in the driver’s seat, anchor Erin Holland came to interview him.

And that interview started on a hilarious note as she asked Livingstone: “How are the crown jewels”. It drew a smile from the batsman as he said they are fine before he was asked about his knock.

Here is that hilarious interview:
