Sanju Samson, probably one of the highly talented players in the circuit, who is still waiting in his wings to find a place in the senior team. Last year would have been a season for him to fill the slot in Indian National Cricket team but he was fallen prey to Yo-Yo test.

Playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2018, Sanju Samson exposed his skills to the cricketing world by his exceptional batting. His hard work earned him a place in India A for the quadrangular series to keep him on the radar for senior selection as well but yo-yo Test didn’t help him.

Actually, it is quite unfortunate for Sanju Samson that he is still in the proving players’ list. He has got exceptional talent but things aren’t going in the youngsters’ way. Sanju Samson is doing all the required stuff but something or the other is delaying things for him.

It is a motivation to hear praises from Rahul Dravid – Sanju Samson

Speaking in an interview, Sanju Samson quoted that the praises from Rahul Dravid are always a great boost to step forward. Further, he went on to add saying that he will be fighting hard to earn a place in the national team. He feels it is a matter of the time.

“It’s definitely a great motivation when you’re praised by legends like him. It motivates you to keep working hard,” says Samson in a chat with Scroll.in.

A Team Player:

Further, he went on to add saying that he would like to play as per the requirement of the team. If the team orders him to play as wicketkeeper-batsman, he would like to do so. Or else, he wants to play as a batsman-cum-fielder. Samson is happy to do both.

“For me, it only depends on what the team needs. It they require me to ‘keep, I’ll ‘keep, if they want me to field and bat, I’m happy to do that as well. It’s entirely the team’s call,” he says.

On competition with Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan:

Currently, India got Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan in their ranks for the work behind the stumps. When asked about his competition with them, Sanju quoted that there is nothing like that, as he believes each player have their own standards.

“To be very honest, I don’t know where I’m standing. I don’t look at the competition. Rishabh is a very good player, he’s an explosive batsman who’s doing very well for India, and I’m very happy for him. At the same time, I know my strengths, too. I have also done well,” he inferred.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Sanju Samson. The best platform for him is to showcase his skills in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2019.
