It has been a great series for Windies but unfortunately, Shannon Gabriel couldn’t quite enjoy the success. He has been under the pump ever since he made a remark on the certain gender of the people. Meanwhile, the former great Ian Bishop believes that the fast bowler is really a good person and felt that he would learn in quick time.

Meanwhile, in the case of Shannon Gabriel, he gave his apologies to Joe Root but insisted that he didn’t use any homophobic language. As per the reports heard through the mic, it is learnt that Gabriel asked Joe Root to stop ”Being Gay”

Shannon Gabriel Shouldn’t have said that – Ian Bishop

Speaking of the same, the former Windies player quoted that the fast bowler should have restrained himself from using the comment. However, he believes that Gabriel will learn from it, as time goes on. Personally, Ian Bishop believes Shannon is a good person.

Further, he went on to add saying that he will be standing on Shannon Gabriel side during the tough times. He also expressed that the punishment on the fast bowler is a bit on the harsh side.

“I know Shannon. He is a good, good guy. The question he posed, in the current cultural climate, he should not have said it, and down the road, he will realise you can’t say something like that because it could be perceived as a bias against a certain group,” Ian Bishop quoted as per Reuters.

I will stand by his side –

Further, he added that one scenario should not be used to judge a person. He feels that Gabriel is a good person and the scenario which was happened was because of the heat of the moment in the game.

“Look, we see you may not have meant great harm, but many of our players and stakeholders and people make their life choices to live by their own philosophy and that’s their right. We feel it’s not what we want to be seen or heard and prefer more sensitivity towards others.  I will stand by his side and say he is not the demon person some have made him be. One scenario should not define who he is growing into as a person,” he added.

However, as Ian Bishop said, the comment from Shannon Gabriel has come out in the heat of the moment. His apologies after the incident clearly show what kind of a person the fast bowler is in his real life.
