I Was One Of The First To Congratulate Sourav Ganguly After He Became BCCI President - Ravi Shastri

There might have been differences between Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri; however, this didn’t stop the head coach of the Indian team to congratulate Ganguly after becoming the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Ravi Shastri himself revealed the matter while speaking to IANS in his recent interview.

When Sourav Ganguly was appointed as the president of BCCI, the move was welcomed from all quarters considering the former Indian captain remains to be one of the most widely respected cricketers across the globe. With a sharp cricketing brain, Ganguly seemed to be the perfect man to clear BCCI’s mess.

Cricketer should be at the helm – Ravi Shastri

Considering the past of Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri, fans were intrigued to witness a meeting between the duo. However, it seems that two of the legendary players of India have moved on from their past differences, as Ravi Shastri showered words of praise on Ganguly for his incredible work so far as a player and the administrator.

Hailing Ganguly’s appointment as the BCCI president, Shastri told IANS, “I think it is fantastic. I was one of the first to congratulate him when he became the President because I was delighted that more important than anything else BCCI was back in place to put Indian cricket where it belongs both on and off the field. And I was even more delighted that a cricketer should be at the helm at this important phase of Indian cricket.”

Hats off to Sourav Ganguly for Pink Ball Test:

Further, the head coach of the Indian team Ravi Shastri quoted that it was a fabulous effort from Sourav Ganguly and the Cricket Association of Bengal to make things fall in place for the Pink Ball Test. Although Pink Ball Test attracted the fans, Ravi Shastri feels Pink ball has got both positives and negatives.

“Hats off to Sourav and CAB for putting up this show because they didn’t leave any stone unturned. The crowd responded magnificently, and it was a fabulous occasion. But when you talk about cricket, it has its positives and negatives. How the pink ball can retain its shine, its texture will be the test in the future. The match has now given you the pluses and minuses,” Ravi Shastri said.

After the success of the first day-night Test, BCCI is mulling over playing more pink-ball matches with New Zealand, and Australia tour lined up. However, no decisions have been taken as of now, and Sourav Ganguly said they would take a call only after talking to the concerned persons.
