The fact that the likes of Virat Kohli, Sarfraz Ahmed, and Kane Williamson learned the nuances and finer points of the sport at the u-19 level is a testament that the importance of this level of the game is of utmost importance.

Suresh Raina himself is well aware of the advantages that a player gets at the under-19 level. The left-handed batsman was a part of the side that made it to the semifinal of 2004 Under-19 World Cup and had gone on to make his senior debut just one year later in a One-Day International against Sri Lanka.

The experienced batsman, on Saturday (January 13), took to Twitter to wish all the participating nations and spoke on the importance of the tournament.

“Wishing all the participating nations, the best of luck for the #U19CWC. A platform that helps a player be recognized & build his career. A stage to showcase the talent & let the world know that you are the next superstar & the one to look out for. This is where boys become men.”
