Windies Cricket Team received a massive blow as all-rounder Andre Russell limped off the field after his outstanding spell during the game against Pakistan at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Russell, who is an important stakeholder in this line-up, seemed confident to regain fitness for the tie against Australia on June 6.

In pursuit, Chris Gayle got them off to a flier. He took on Hasan Ali to set the tone for the run-chase. Although Windies lost Shai Hope and Darren Bravo from the other end, Gayle continued with his onslaught. He departed after scoring his half-century while Nicholas Pooran took off the mantle to finish the game in style with a six off Riaz.

Andre Russell was seen hobbling with his knee problems after the end of the game. However, it is something that is not new to Russell as he been playing cricket with this kind of injuries for long. The dynamic all-rounder sounded confident that with five days, he will get his knee in place and play the all-important game against Australia.

“I’ve been playing for years with these knee injuries,” Russell said after the match. “And sometimes it feels worse than some days but, at the end of the day, I’m a professional. I know what to do to get back. I think I have five days before the next game so that is more than enough time to get my knee back to normal and get it settled,” he added.

Furthermore, Andre Russell said even his knee is 80 percent fit, he is ready to bowl. While he primarily came into the team on the back of his destructive batting performance, he wants to contribute to all the departments. In conclusion, Russell said he wants to do everything to play in the World Cup as there will enough time to rest after the tournament.
