ICC World Cup 2019: Sachin Tendulkar Set For Commentary Debut in the Marquee Event

The wait had finally ended as ICC World Cup 2019 is all set to kick off later today when host England take on Windies at the Kennington Oval in London. During the curtain-raiser, legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar will also make his commentary debut in the World Cup.

Sachin set for commentary debut

The Little Master will join the pre-match show in Hindi and English from 1:30 with a very new segment of his own named ‘Sachin Opens Again’. Star Sports, who is the official broadcasting partner for the World Cup in India, will telecast the show live. Sachin Tendulkar will have a whole set of panelists alongside him, most of them have played alongside him during his international days.

Meanwhile, the opening game of the tournament will see two of the best teams go up against each other. While England have only lost five of the last 22 series, they have played since their ouster from the 2015 World Cup; South Africa have world-class bowling attack. Although they miss the service of Dale Steyn in the tournament opener due to a shoulder injury, it will not worry the Proteas. They have the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Chris Morris to make it up for it.

The Thursday’s clash will be an epic battle between England world-class batting line-up and South Africa’s pace attack. However, the host hold a little edge going by their recent form in this format. Both of them would like to get off to a winning start and set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

However, ahead of the clash, the fans will be excited to see Sachin Tendulkar grace the commentary box. Tendulkar is one of the successful players in the history of the tournament. He has scored 2,278 runs in the six editions of the World Cup he played. He also has the most number of runs scored in one edition – 673 runs from 11 matches in the 2003 edition where India lost to Australia in the finals.

The God of India announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Since then, he has been associated with Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
