ICC World Cup 2019: Twitter Reacts As India Beat Sri Lanka Convincingly

India registered a convincing win against Sri Lanka in the 44th match of the ICC World Cup as they won by seven wickets. It was a dominating performance from Men in Blue after Sri Lanka skipper won the toss and decided to bat first. The bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to 264 runs and then Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul scored centuries to take their team over the line.

Sri Lanka could not get off to a good start as Jasprit Bumrah was right on the money. Bumrah took two early wickets to push the Lankans on the backfoot. Furthermore, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each to have Sri Lanka tottering at 55-4.

Comprehensive win for India.

However, Sri Lanka was brought back into the contest after Angelo Matthews and Lahiru Thirimanne 124 runs for the fifth wicket partnership. Matthews scored his third ODI hundred whereas Thrimanne scored a good knock of 53 runs.

On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he took three wickets whereas the rest of the Indian bowlers took one wicket each.

India got off to a fine start as Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were able to hit the ground running as they added a fine alliance of 189 runs. KL Rahul who had struggled to find his timing in the previous match was able to find his Midas Touch. Rahul timed the ball to perfection and he was at his best.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma played a typical Rohit Sharma innings. The right-hander continued his sublime form going as he was at his best. The talisman opener completed his fifth hundred of the tournament and became the first player to score as many centuries in a single edition of the World Cup.
