Team India will look to extend their lead in the ongoing five-match series when they square off against Windies in the third one-day international at Pune on October 27 (Saturday).

Meanwhile, the second fixture ended in a tie as India maintained their 1-0 lead. Skipper Virat Kohli brought his 37th ODI hundred as India posted 321 runs on the board. He remained unbeaten on 157 runs while Ambati Rayudu chipped in with 73 runs to guide the host to a massive total. However, Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope led a terrific comeback to salvage a draw at Visakhapatnam.

Hetmyer smashed 64 balls 94 while Hope remained unbeaten on 123 runs to keep their hopes alive in the series. Windies needed five runs from the last ball as Hope smashed a boundary to seal a draw.
In a bid to extend their lead, India have brought back premier pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah in the squad. They will directly slot in the first XI while Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav will miss out. Furthermore, they are likely to retain their team giving an extended run to Ambati Rayudu and Rishabh Pant.

Here is the predicted XI of team India for the third ODI against Windies at Pune:

Rohit Sharma has been a critical component of this ODI set-up and time and again he has proved his worth. After a great start in the series, Rohit failed in the second attempt. India will want him to continue in the rest of the series against Windies.

Shikhar Dhawan will look to get going after missing out in the opening two ODI’s against Windies. He has been in great form in the Asia Cup and will look to tune it ahead of India’s tour of Australia.

The India skipper returned to the ODI team with a bang as he made the tough chase look easy with his aggressive batting skills. Kohli brought his 37th ODI ton in the last game as he became the fastest to reach the 10000 ODI runs in just 205 innings.

Ambati Rayudu has capitalised whatever little opportunities have come his way. Recently, Kohli admitted that Rayudu fits well in his World Cup plan which should do his confidence a world of good.

Rayudu played a valuable knock of 73 runs providing support to Virat Kohli.

RISHABH PANT

Rishabh Pant made his ODI debut in the first game against Windies, however, didn’t get the opportunity to bat. But Pant showed some hint of form in the second game scored 17 runs including two fours.

Pant has impressed in the Test circuit and will look to carry his form in the 50-over format of the game.

MS Dhoni’s performance with the bat will be under scanner after recent failures in the Asia Cup and tour of England. The former India skipper will be desperate to prove his batting credentials against a weak Windies attack.

BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR

The management has been prudent while using Bhuvneshwar Kumar considering the upcoming Australia series and World Cup looming ahead. Bhuveshwar will have to weave his magic with the new ball again cause a setback for the Windies side.

KULDEEP YADAV

Kuldeep Yadav has been among the wickets in the series and the management will bank on him to pick wickets in the middle overs. Kuldeep with a lot of variations in his armoury can be a dangerous customer for Windies.

Jasprit Bumrah will slot in the first XI after returning to the squad for the last three games. Bumrah has been a key component in this setup and will be keen to provide early breakthroughs with the new ball.

YUZVENDRA CHAHAL

Yuzvendra Chahal has struggled to pick wicket off late; however, he still holds the key for India in the middle overs. Over the years, Chahal has done well for India, and Virat Kohli will hope his spinner to come good in the third ODI at Pune.
