Former West Indies skipper Carl Hooper is open to talking to the Windies players after their dismal performance in the first Test match at Rajkot. The Windies were not able to put any kind of fight in the first match as they lose by a gargantuan margin of an innings and 272 runs. Thus, it was the biggest innings win for the Indian team.

Meanwhile, Carl Hooper said that he didn’t have a chat with the Windies players as it would have further confused them. However, Hooper will look to lift some dropping shoulders in the dressing room after a poor show in the first Test match.

Such a big loss can hamper the confidence of any team and thus it is pivotal for the Windies to believe that they can do well. Thus, it is crucial for the Windies to find some inspiration.

“I would definitely speak to them. I did not talk during the match because that would have confused them. But I intend to talk to them. There are many senior coaches in the team and they must have spoken to the boys. Stuart (Law) is a good coach,” he told Sportstar.

Meanwhile, Windies full-time skipper Jason Holder was seen bowling with a short run-up under the tutelage of bowling coach Corey Collymore. However, there are still question marks over his participation for the second Test match.

Windies stand-in skipper Kraigg Brathwaite said that they will come to know about Holder’s position in a couple of days. Holder had to miss out from the first Test match due to an ankle injury.

“Not 100 percent sure. In a couple of days, we will come to know,” he said.

There is no doubt that the return of Jason Holder will a big confidence booster for the visitors. He can keep the runs down. Furthermore, he is more than handy with the bat while batting down the order.
