It took 16.4 overs of the final innings of the ultimate match of round-robin league, to finally decide the four teams who qualified for the playoffs of Indian Premier League (IPL), this season.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered a five-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The Punjab-based unit was looking to dismiss their opposition with 100 runs. So much so, to help them seal the final spot available in the playoffs of the eleventh edition of domestic professional Twenty20 league.

Moreover, the match was set up by a magical spell from Lungi Ngidi, who ran through KXIP’s middle order with figures of four for 10 in his quota of overs.

Finally, it had to come down Dhoni who treated the crowd in Pune with his trademark last-ball hit, to seal the deal for his side.

In addition, Lungi Ngidi was adjudged Man of the Match title for his splendid bowling figures.

Very good day out. Really didn’t expect it to go that far. But will definitely take it today. Usually, sub-continent stays a bit low and slow. Also, when Chahar bowled the first over today, I couldn’t stop grinning on the side,” Ngidi registered his views during the post-match presentation.

On CSK culture:

CSK is a team which really values family values. Just the cricketing mind and brain Dhoni has, it’s helped me,” concluded the South African paceman.
