Royal Challengers Bangalore star Dale Steyn has taken a sly dig at Ravichandran Ashwin, trolling the off-spinner on Twitter. Not very surprisingly, Mankad was the focus point in Steyn’s cheeky swipe at Ashwin. The Kings XI Punjab skipper has been hogging the limelight ever since Mankading Jos Buttler in the first week of the ongoing season. The India ace had faced widespread criticism for the dismissal that is very much legal but is widely considered against the spirit of the game.

The likes of Shane Warne, Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, and Dale Steyn had slammed Ashwin for that act.  But it looks like Steyn is not done with taking shots at Ashwin yet as he once again highlighted that incident. It all began when Prasanna, South Africa’s team performance analyst and Kings XI Punjab’s high-performance manager, took to Twitter to compile a bowling lineup of his own and asked his followers about their views.

“How good will it be to have jofra archer , Jasprit Bumrah , Kagiso Rabada , Imran Tahir and R Ashwin as your bowling attack in an ipl team?,” wrote Prasanna.

Dale Steyn sensed the opportunity to have a laugh at Ashwin’s expense and he did not waste the chance. The Proteas star hilariously replied:

“Bumrah- Bowled, Rabada- Caught, Tahir- Lbw  ,Ashwin- Mankad. All bases covered there Pdog ?”

Ashwin, meanwhile, nearly Mankaded another batsman on Saturday. He tried to dismiss Delhi Capitals star Shikhar Dhawan in a similar manner but failed to do so as the batsman was well aware of the crease. Ever since that incident, Ashwin has been facing the heat on the social media once again.

Last month, Ashwin had given his take on Mankad too. The off-spinner had clearly stated that he did nothing wrong as Mankading the non-strikers are clearly in the rule books.

“You can debate about it. It’s up to people’s perception what they believe it is,” Ashwin told AajTak. “But to me, like I said, it’s all about conscience. Before some 10 years, there was a rule wherein you warn somebody and then do it.”

“See, there have been even debates about whether I waited for him to leave the crease. But what people don’t understand is I hadn’t even reached the crease when he started walking away. Once I complete my action, I can’t go down and hit the stumps.

“I will have to wait and then only flip the stumps. It makes no sense to me. There will be no end to this. People will keep giving their opinions,” he added.
