The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises are now entering the business phase of building their final squad for the next season. The trade window will close today while the much-awaited auction will take place on December 19 in Kolkata. The likes of Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals have been very busy with the trades.

A number of big names like Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Evin Lewis and others have shifted base ahead of the next season. Delhi Capitals have roped in Rahane and Ashwin while Rajasthan Royals have traded Dhawal Kulkarni for Lewis. The likes of Krishnappa Gowtham, Ankit Rajpoot, Mayank Markande, Rahul Tewatia have been traded too.

However, runners-up of last season, Chennai Super Kings have not traded any player.  But the three-time champions are looking set to go all out in the forthcoming auction as they have hinted that they will release five players. As the other teams were busy trading players, Chennai Super Kings took to Twitter to post a cryptic message, writing:

“Relea5ing tomorrow! ??”

The Chennai-based outfit is known for retaining its core and thus it is unlikely to release any big name. It would be interesting to see their decision regarding the likes of Murali Vijay, Kedar Jadhav and other big names who have not been doing well in recent times.

Chennai Super Kings, nonetheless, will be looking to go one step further next season after finishing second this year. They lost to their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in a thrilling final.
