In 2018, Lamichhane was the first player from Nepal to be part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when Delhi Daredevils signed him for Rs 20 Lakh. Since then, he has played for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Kowloon Cantons and Montreal Tigers. He will now add more two clubs to his kitty in the form of Sixers and Stars.

He also has experience of playing in Australia. The Nepal star had trained under the watchful eye of former Australian skipper Michael Clarke while playing grade cricket Down Under.

“I first saw Sandeep bowl for Nepal in the Asian U19 Championships in Malaysia and was immediately impressed by both his skill as a wrist spinner and also his energy. I watched Matt bowl for Lancashire in the Vitality Blast this season where he helped them reach the semi finals with some dominant performances,” said Melbourne Stars list manager, Trent Woodhill.

“Lamichhane had a successful IPL debut for Delhi and bowled well in the CPL. We have high expectations that he will light up the BBL and become a star of the tournament,” he added.
