Former England captain, Michael Vaughan on Tuesday predicted Australia to comfortably win the Border-Gavaskar Test series after learning that Virat Kohli will miss the last three out of four Test matches.

Indian captain, Virat Kohli will return back to India after the first match in Adelaide, which is a day-night Test. Kohli has been granted paternity leave by the BCCI, as he and wife, Anushka Sharma are expecting their first child in early January. This means Kohli will not be available for the Tests in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

Kohli has taken the right decision: Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to opine that without Virat Kohli in the opposition, the hosts will find it easier to win the Test series. The former English skipper, at the same time, also feels that Kohli has taken the right decision to be with his family at the birth of his child.

Vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane in all likelihood will take the captaincy duties for the next three Tests. The Indian skipper will leave for India to attend the birthing of his first child. Kohli and Anuskha Sharma tied the knot in a ceremony in December three years ago.

Michael Vaughan wrote on Twitter: “No @imVkohli (Virat Kohli) for 3 Tests in Australia .. The right decision going to be at the birth of his first child .. but it means Australia will win the series quite easily IMO (in my opinion)”.

The 46-year old recently opined that Rohit Sharma should be India’s T20 captain instead of Virat Kohli after the opener led Mumbai Indians to their fifth IPL title.

“Without question, Rohit Sharma should be the Indian T20 captain.. fantastic man-manager & leader.. & he knows exactly how to win T20 games .. it would also give Virat chance to take a breather and just be the player .. it’s works for all other teams around the world..#IPL2020,” Michael Vaughan tweeted.

India won their previous Test series in Australia by a 2-1 scoreline. After the conclusion of the IPL, the entire squad will travel to Australia for a full-fledged tour comprising of 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is, and 4 Tests. The limited-overs leg will begin on 27th November, while the highly-awaited Test series will commence on 17th December.
