The Pakistan team, which has long left for England to take part in the bilateral series, have received a boost. Seasoned left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir has put his name up to tour England following the birth of his second daughter last week. Pakistan will kickstart their leg from the 5th of August when the first Test begins in Manchester.

Mohammad Amir was one of the players, who pulled out of the England tour, anticipating that the visit clashes with the birth of his second child. Having retired from Test cricket last year, Amir will take part only in the three-match T20 series. Reserve wicketkeeper-batsman Rohail Nazir would be pulled out from the squad once Amir joins the party. Manchester and Southampton will stage the three Tests while the former will play as hosts for all three T20Is.

Also, veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik’s departure from India to England has been delayed as the nation has banned international flights until the 31st of July.

Pakistan’s tour has progressed after overcoming plenty of hurdles with as many as ten players testing positive for COVID-19 before departing for England. Eventually, they tested negative before getting clearance to travel to the United Kingdom.

Like all the Pakistan players and officials in England, the 28-year old will also go through two tests for Coronavirus. The PCB has also decided to send Mohammad Imran, a masseur at the National High-Performance Centre.

The pair underwent their first test on Monday and provided that returns negative, they will move to a bio-secure environment in Lahore. In that scenario, their second and final test will be undertaken on Wednesday with departures scheduled over the weekend.
