MS Dhoni’s troubled back this season is a major area of concern for Chennai Super Kings.  Dhoni has been struggling with a back injury this season. In fact, he also missed the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. Later, it was confirmed that it was just a matter of back spasm. Dhoni then returned to action against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The 37-year old was also in action on Tuesday when Chennai Super Kings hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chepauk. Speaking after the game, he had said that that the injury is not getting worse. He also pointed out that the World Cup is very much in his mind and he would take rest if the injury worsens. However, Chennai Super Kings batting coach Mike Hussey has now said that Dhoni was keen to play all the games for the team. Hussey also said it was “very difficult” to get Dhoni.

“Well, you would have to ask Dhoni that question. I think what I know about him is that he doesn’t want to miss any matches.

“He loves playing for CSK, this place is very close to his heart and he wants to play and do well and wants to see the team have success. So trying to get him to have rest is very difficult,” Hussey told reporters ahead of Friday’s IPL match against Mumbai Indians.

“I don’t know what he (Dhoni) wants to do in that respect, but we will have to wait and see. I think he is keen to play all the games,” added Hussey.

The Super Kings are heavily relying on Dhoni this season. Despite being a middle-order batsman, Dhoni is the leading run-scorer for them which proves just how much the team needs its skipper. Dhoni has so far scored 314 runs in 10 games at an average of over 104. Meanwhile, the Super Kings have all but sealed their playoff spot by winning 8 of their first 11 games.
