Mumbai legend Amol Muzumdar has taken a sly dig at ex-India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar for his distasteful remark for Harsha Bhogle. Manjrekar and Bhogle were involved in a heated exchange of words while commentating during the historic day-night Test between India and Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens.

Things got out of control as the two were talking about the pink ball and how it behaves. Bhogle said that India should do a post-mortem of their maiden Pink ball Test and players should be asked for their opinion on the visibility of the ball. However, Manjrekar suggested there was no issue with the visibility of the ball and he knows it because, he has played international cricket, unlike Bhogle.

“Well there is a post-mortem done on this game and there should be a post mortem on this game. Visibility of that ball will be a big factor against the big white sight-screen,” Bhogle said.

“Don’t think so. Because when you see the slip catchers the way they have taken catches, I don’t think visibility is an issue at all. The texture of the ball is the issue,” responded Manjrekar, who has played 37 Tests for India between 1987 and 1996.

In reply, Bhogle said: “We just need to ask the players what they think.”

This is when Manjrekar seemingly lost his patience and hit back at Bhogle by saying: “You need to ask, for those who have played cricket, it’s evident it can be seen well.”

Amol Muzumdar’s dig at Manjrekar:

Manjrekar has been facing the heat on social media for his jibe at Bhogle and Amol Muzumdar has also taken a shot at the ex-India cricketer albeit in a subtle manner. When asked a question about Rishabh Pant’s India career, Muzumdar said with a laugh:

“How will I know? I have never played at that level.”

Amol Muzumdar was implicitly referring to the disagreement between Bhogle and Manjrekar. Muzumdar was asked by his colleague on air: “Pant is used to facing the express pace of India bowlers in the nets & international bowlers. How should he adjust to the lack of pace here?”

Muzumdar replied: “How will I know? I have never played at that level.”

Muzumdar is considered to be one of the best Indian batsmen never to have played for India.  He scored over 11,000 runs in first-class cricket with the help of 30 centuries and 60 fifties.
