Team India head coach Ravi Shastri said it is his responsibility to help young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant regain his form. Meanwhile, Pant has been struggling with form in recent times and has come under the scanner.

Pant became India’s No 4 post the World Cup after MS Dhoni went on a sabbatical. He batted at that position against West Indies and South Africa; however, has failed to put runs on the board. With Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan making noise with their performance, Rishabh Pant is on the verge of losing his place in the playing XI.

Ravi Shastri came hard at the young cricketer before the start of the South Africa series. The India head coach said that Pant needs to step up and score runs to be in the side. Shastri’s comments received a good criticism for not supporting a young talented player.

And now, Ravi Shastri has taken a U-turn to come in support of Rishabh Pant. He said that it is his responsibility to support Pant to regain music. Shastri also reiterated that he has the right to scold Pant when he is having bad time.

“The team management will ensure there’s a sense of security among the pool of players and we will also ensure that if there’s any lack of communication between the selectors and the players, the team management will step in and make sure that everybody’s on the same page at all times. Look at Rishabh for instance – it is my responsibility to get him back to his best when he’s struggling. I have the right to scold him when I’m unhappy as much as I’m sure I’ll give him a standing ovation when he does well,” Shastri told Times of India.
