While Ravi Bishnoi was the highest wicket-taker at the recently-concluded ICC U19 World Cup, he has been all over the news for all the wrong reasons since the end of the tournament. The highly-rated leg-spinner let his emotions get the better of him during the ill-tempered final against Bangladesh and has been facing criticism for his behaviour.

Ravi Bishnoi gave a foul-mouthed send off to Avishek Das and was later involved in an altercation with the Bangladesh players after the end of the match. The tussle turned physical and Ravi Bishnoi was at the centre of the controversy.

Later, he along with his teammate Akash Singh and three other Bangladesh players was charged for misbehaviour. Ravi Bishnoi was handed five demerit points for his poor behaviour during the match. And his behaviour has not only surprised the fans and others but also his father.

Bishnoi senior opened up on his son’s actions and said that he was surprised to see him behave in that matter. He also revealed that Ravi told him the reason behind his involvement in the fracas before saying that his wife has not eaten since the incident took place.

“I wonder what happened to my son, because he is one of my calmest children [Ravi has two elder sisters and one brother]. He explained the sequence of events and the circumstances when he lost his cool while trying to save his teammate, who was being attacked by the Bangladeshi players,” said Ravi’s father Mangilal Bishnoi to mid-day.com.

“My wife has not eaten anything since yesterday,” he went on to add.

The young leg-spinner finished the competition with 17 wickets to his name. In the final, he turned the game on its head when Bangladesh were cruising at one stage while chasing 177. He took four wickets in quick succession to reduce the opposition to 65 for 4 from 50 from 1. But in the end, Bangladesh managed to win the game by three wickets (DLS method).
