New Zealand right-handed batsman Ross Taylor has broken the record of former legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar and Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Taylor scored a brilliant 137 against Sri Lanka in the third ODI. Taylor was adjudged the Man of the match for his blistering knock. This was Taylor’s sixth consecutive score of more than 50 in the ODI format.

Thus, the experienced Kiwi batsman is in fine form in the recent past. In fact, Ross Taylor last ten scores in the 50-overs version are: 1, 59, 113, 10, 181*, 80, 86*, 54, 90, and 137.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and his idol Sachin Tendulkar had scored five fifties on the trot in the ODI format. On the other hand, this was Taylor’s 20th hundred in the ODI version. He is also the top Kiwi batsman to score most number of hundreds in a single format.

Speaking about his hundred, the former Kiwi skipper said: “It was nice to get the 20th hundred, I would have taken that at the start of my career. I’m getting old, so hopefully, I’ve got a few more in me.”

New Zealand won the ODI series by 3-0 after winning the third match by 115 runs. Thus, it was a dominating performance from the hosts as they dominated Sri Lanka in all three spheres of the game.

Meanwhile, Ross Taylor also equalled the record of his captain Kane Williamson and former Kiwi batsman Andrew Jones, who both have scored six successive fifties. Taylor took 131 balls for his 137 and scored nine fours and four sixes in his match-winning knock.

On the other hand, Henry Nicholls scored a staggering hundred. The southpaw batsman scored 124 off just 80 balls as he smashed a dozen fours and three maximums. Furthermore, Lockie Ferguson scalped four wickets to bundle out the visitors for 249 runs.

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar had scored five consecutive half-centuries in 1994 whereas Virat Kohli scored five fifties in 2012.
