Shahganj Police thwarted a theft attempt at India cricketer Deepak Chahar’s house in Mansarovar colony in Agra city. According to reports, the police have arrested six men for allegedly trying to break into Chahar’s house.
The accused who have been arrested, have been identified as Rupkishore, Rajkumar, Vijay Kushwaha, Dasrath, Deendayal and Rakesh. All the six men have been charged under IPC section 412 (Dishonestly receiving property stolen in the commission of a dacoity) and 25 arms act.
According to The Times of India, the burglars had attempted to enter Chahar’s house when her mother was alone at the residence. And although they had managed to cut the CCTV wire, Chahar’s mother raised a timely alarm which compelled the burglars to feel. The six men are regular defaulters and were wanted by the local police in several burglary and theft cases.
“The gang had conducted a recce prior to executing the burglary attempt. The gang was actively involved in at least nine break-in and theft cases reported in Jagdispura police jurisdiction,” Shahganj SHO Prem Niwas Sharma told TOI.
Chahar, meanwhile, recently made his T20I and ODI debut but failed to impress in both. He made his T20I debut during the tour of England and ended the game with figures of 1 for 43 off four overs. The allrounder made his ODI debut during India’s triumphant Asia Cup-campaign but failed to make a mark again. He conceded 37 runs off just 4 overs while picking up one wicket against Afghanistan. As a result, Chahar could not retain his place in the ODI team for the upcoming series against West Indies at home.
Prior to that, he had impressed in the Indian Premier League. He emerged as one of Chennai Super Kings’ key new-ball bowlers in their triumphant 2018 season, picking up 10 wickets in 12 matches.
