With Pakistan struggling to perform well in the ongoing One-Day International series against New Zealand, their former batsman Ramiz Raja has advised them to bring in leg-spinner Yasir Shah from Australia.

Shah is currently plying his trade for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League while Pakistan is in New Zealand, playing the five-match ODI series. The reigning Champions Trophy winners have been thoroughly outplayed by the Black Caps in the first two games. In both the games of the series so far, the bowlers struggled to keep the New Zealand batsmen in check.

In the first game, Kane Williamson & Co. scored a massive 315 for 7 before restricting the visitors to 166 for 6 in 30.1 overs to win the game by DLS method. Out of six bowlers who were tried out by Sarfraz Ahmed, only Shadab Khan managed to concede under 6 runs per over. Even in the second game, the bowlers failed to do well. Batting first, the Men in Green scored 246 for 9 in the allotted 50 overs but the bowlers failed to defend the modest target.

With the series on the line, Ramiz Raja believes the only way Pakistan can do well in New Zealand is by taking wickets and feels Yasir Shah along with Shadab Khan can turn out to be instrumental.

“Get Yasir Shah over from Big Bash to bowl at NZ. With Shadab he could prove a great wicket taking option Taking wkts is the only way to roll over rampant NZ batting at home. With Shoaib Malik now a reluctant off spinner & pacers getting a pasting more leg spin could be the answer,” Raja wrote
